Revolution Day

In November Mulege celebrated Revolution Day. Several hundred children gathered on the baseball field. Each group of children were dressed elaborately in costumes, and in turn, would come to the center of the field to present arms, or do some sort of dance routine. One of the sets of girls, all dressed in blue, had long fake braids attached to their hair, so that they all looked the same. Here is a little girl with her mother, who is reattaching the braids. The field bleachers were so crowded that some of the older kids gathered on the roof tops. As we were leaving, we spotted two young women on stilts, being guided into the field by a helper. I jammed out of the car with my camera, and made the poor things hold still long enough to get this shot.
