One day Mike and I were admiring the gardens around the farmhouse. The corn we had started by seed in the greenhouse, the calendulas, all of the other flowers were massive, and gorgeous. It's hard to top August at the farm.
Two years ago we put in a new fruit tree orchard at the house, and have been supplementing the ground with lavender stem bundles as a perfect mulch.
Garland and Cheryl are so considerate in sharing their wonderful wines with us. This time it was a gift of two little bottles of their cab sauvignon they called Purple Haze Daze.
It's always fun when Mike Schmidt pops in for his little visits. You can see how relaxed he and Mike are on the upstairs deck. Oh, that purple squiggle is one of our new misters. Perfect for those really hot days.
