Lake Roosevelt Houseboat

At the end of September we rented a 65 foot long double-decker houseboat on Lake Roosevelt. Mike and Irene Schmidt joined us, and we had a blast. At first it seemed a bit over the top to handle such a big boat, but the guys immediately got the hang of it, and after loading tons of food, wine, fishing gear, and more, we were off for several days. Each night we spent in a different location, cruising all day long, then settling by late afternoon. The coves, inlets, bays and cliffs were awesome. Sometimes the water was so completely still that it was an actual mirror of the sky and surrounding area. Schmidty was the brave one of the bunch and went down the waterslide from the upper deck, into the pretty cold water, swam to shore, and then carved out a love note to Irene on the cliffside. What a guy! Dave and Lisbeth Meseberg zoomed up river in their fancy boat, and actually found us sitting in a cove. They joined us for two days. Everyone had tons of fun in the sun, fishing, lounging around, poking around on the shorelines, getting huge crawdads for dinner, sitting in the upper deck hot tub stargazing, watching eagles soaring, families of otters playing onshore and in the water, and an entire flock of turkeys smack at the side of the boat one morning when we woke up. The last evening was a surprise birthday party for me complete with party favors and spray string. Life with Mike is certainly an adventure!
